Kathy was referred to us bya few friends whose kitchens she had recently completed.  The first project we worked on with Kathywas the second floor bathrooms.  She re-designed the space of our main bath, master bath and master closet.  We previously had a large main bath, a large master closet, but a small master bath.  With the new design, we gained a large master bath with a walk-in shower, while still maintaing a nice size main bath and master closet.  Kathy had incredible vision in re-designing this space and we were thrilled with the results.

A year later we brought Kathy back to our home to re-design our kitchen and first floor bathroom.  She creatively re-designed the space of our existing powder room and hall closet allowing the bathroom to be larger and have more privacy.   In the kitchen, Kathy's design allowed us to have room for a center island, which we have always loved and wanted.  She worked tirelessly to create a custom kitchen for us that is both beautiful and functional. In both projects, Kathy's vision, commitment and expertise went beyond our expectations.  We are incredibly happy with the results and wouldn't change a thing!!

Kathy Tracey Design was absolutely wonderful. We would hire her in a heart beat again. Kathy is detailed oriented, very attentive, reliable, and extremely creative. She is a very good listener which is important. She designed what we wanted, not what she thought would be best based on previous clients needs. Many designers that we interviewed interjected what previous clients did, which results in cookie cutter designs. We wanted to step outside the box and really have a modern farmhouse design. What Kathy designed and implemented for us is a DREAM kitchen. We loved Kathy's design ideas so much that we hired her to help with the entire house design, from our exposed railroad beam, tiling, right down to the hardwood floor color. She is not afraid to go bold in a very elegant way. Kathy is a thinker and took her time to make sure the perfect plan was executed to get our vision. Kathy's creativity is endless and versatile . Many designers are repetitive with the layout. We were building our home and Kathy communicated with our GC, Electrician, Plumber, tiler and custom hood company. She made sure every contractor had the plans and that everything was done perfectly with no mistakes. Kathy came to the job site countless times to make sure lighting wires were run in places we wanted island sconces, bar lights, kitchen table high hats etc. It was way beyond her duties! Our kitchen is a room where we will make a lifetime of memories. In addition to our Kitchen we had Kathy design our master bathroom. What she executed for us is beyond words and more than what we dreamed of having. Her carpenter made the stunning custom vanity that Kathy designed. She spent many hours picking out all of the tile for the master bath. She was also there while the tile was being installed. She helped me pick out the lights, mirror, teak benches for shower, glass shower door with bar. The details and devotion she provided was endless. I could tell Kathy really loves what she does and has so much appreciation for design and peoples ideas. We adored working with Kathy. Having her really gave such excitement to our project.

Kathy Tracey was tasked with completely redesigning a 45 year old kitchen in what is architecturally a contemporary house. For the kitchen, we envisioned something transitional with high quality cabinets that would "play well" with the gray cedar and white walls in an open floor plan the kitchen shares with the main level of the home. As we love to cook and informally entertain, the kitchen was conceptualized as the focal point of the main level where guests would feel comfortable wandering in and from which those cooking could look out and interact without having to turn around or feel isolated. At the outset, the project presented significant challenges: the room is irregularly shaped with only one full exterior wall for tall appliances and upper cabinets. The ceiling is cathedral. We also wanted an open area looking over to the dining room and we needed to keep within the color parameters already established in the house. Like many renovations, we were striving to keep the budget proportional to the value of the house, which we plan to remain in 5 - 10 years. During the interview process - we met with several prospective designers - Kathy impressed us with various qualities that held constant throughout the project. She was extremely sensitive to the budget parameters and never attempted to upsell us into features which may have reduced her labor or enhanced her "bottom line." She is a problem solver with an excellent sense of what works aesthetically. She listens sensitively to the clients' objectives and reactions. As problems arise, she addresses them, whether this involves communicating with the general contractor or coming to the house to ensure that work is properly executed. Finally, she is a team player who used her own cabinet installers (excellent) and collaborated smoothly with our General Contractor, countertop fabricator, lighting and tile retailers, including meeting us at the showrooms to help with our selections. The end product is, needless to say, our dream kitchen aesthetically and functionally. In addition to being beautiful and dramatically transforming our main floor, the new kitchen doubles the functional cabinet space and includes many convenience features we had only imagined. We knew our objectives and resources. Kathy Tracey brought it all together and made it happen. We would be extremely confident in giving her our highest recommendation.
